Energy Conservation at RESA

The RESA Facilities Team

The RESA Facilities Team was established to identify ways the organization can reduce waste and conserve energy. The team, consisting of sub-teams at TEC, Woodland, the Academic Transitional Academy, the Pine River Nature Center and the Administration Building, meets monthly to work toward established goals. They also collaborate to identify new ways in which energy and money waste can be diminished or eliminated.

Some actions already taken by the team include:

• Moving all cardboard recycling to TEC, resulting in a yearly savings of $414
• Installation of can and bottle recycling bins in the East and West conference rooms
• Discontinuation of Styrofoam cup and plate use at Woodland
• Installation of several occupancy sensors for lighting control

  of the Facilities Team. The newsletter will be

  published periodically to let people know what has

  already been done in the way of energy

  conservation, as well as what plans are in the

  works and how employees can contribute to

  RESA’s endeavors in being green.

Woodland Room 216

This environmentally conscious class, led by teacher Cameron MacKenzie and aide Jim DeMeester, is available to help employees with a wide range of recycling needs. Classroom students and staff can pick up materials including paper, plastic, tin, magazines, glass, cardboard and batteries. Students sort the materials and prepare them for drop-off at the landfill. Recycling boxes are also available through the class by calling 455-4431.
