TEC students rock at HOSA State Conference

" Hidee-ho, goin' all the way, gonna rock the world the HOSA way...."

Six St. Clair TEC Health Nurse Aide students yelled this cheer along with about 1600 other high school and post high school students enrolled in Health Occupation Education programs from all over Michigan this past weekend (April 15 - 16, 2010) in Traverse City.

HOSA is a student organization for students interested in pursuing a health care profession.

It was founded in 1976 and Michigan became a charter member in 1980.

St. Clair TEC's Health Career Academy was represented by the following students:

Brittany Beaudin- 11th grade, Port Huron High School

Carissa Boucher- 11th grade, St. Clair High School

Danielle Lipa- 12th grade, Algonac High School

Alicia Meldrum- 12th grade, Marine City High School

NaTasha Potvin- 11th grade, Marine City High School

Emily Vantiem- 11th grade, St. Clair High School

All students represented themselves and St. Clair County in a fine professional manner as they competed in their events. Carissa Boucher was a finalist in Medical Assisting and Danielle Lipa was a finalist in Nursing Assisting. This means they are in the top 8 in the state.

The students were under the leadership of their Advisor Mrs. Deborah L. Biga, RN/Instructor along with Health Academy Instructional Technician, Ms. Beverly J. Walker, LPN.

We are very proud of all of you !!!
